Hello, G45ers!

Little Boy Blue Card Folio

“There’s nothing on earth sweeter or more precious than a new baby!  And there’s nothing more enjoyable than creating a special card to welcome a new wee one into the nest.  I was thrilled to break out my Little Darlings – Deluxe Collector’s Edition and make this Little Boy Blue Card Folio when one of our close family friends gave birth to a bouncing baby boy.

 

 

I wanted this card folio to have a real shabby chic, vintage feel.  To accomplish this, I lightly distressed all the card layers, added a machine stitched border and added loads of fussy cut images popped up on waste chipboard.
 

 

 

A G45 Staples Shabby Chic Ornate Keyhole and Shabby Chic Keys add a wonderful textural element to the card design.  

 

Tip:  Staples Metal Hardware is easy to alter.  Use your finger to tap a light coat of ivory chalk paint on the keys to bring out the details.  Then loop the metallic string around the brad to add them to the Keyhole.

 

 

Tip:  Use ribbons and flowers to draw the eye to images that might otherwise go unnoticed.  This lovely chipboard frame and image are highlighted by the ribbon cluster and flower clusters.  

 

Tip: Use height to its fullest advantage.  I’ve backed the chipboard frame and image with a double layer of waste chipboard to elevate it on the card.  This automatically makes it stand out more.

 

 

Tip:  Add a diagonal line to your design.  After fussy cutting the Little Darlings banner, I backed it with waste chipboard and adhered it to the card in a diagonal line.  This helps to separate the Little Boy Blue image from the chipboard frame. It’s also adds a feeling of movement to the card.

 

When I create a card, I’m always on the lookout for ways to add texture and dimension.  One fun way to pea-sized puddle of paint onto a piece of scrap paper.  Dilute it with a few spritzes of water. Then pick the paint up with a round tipped brush. Hold the brush loosely with one hand and tap it with the other.  The diluted paint will create lovely little spatters that add extra texture to your composition. You can always practice this technique on magazine pages until you get the hang of it.to this is to spatter the card with paint. To do this, pour a very small,

 

To turn a card into a gift, you can add pockets and a mini folio to the inside.

 

This little waterfall element will hold photos of baby’s first precious days.
 

 

 

I’ve added light stenciling, a stamped sentiment and this sweet fussy cut image to dress up this flap page.  The torn paper border adds to the shabby chic feel of the card.

 

You can add fussy cut images to dress up the pages of your waterfall.

 

Tip:  Adhere just one edge of an image so that photos can be tucked behind.

 

This sweet little gift card holder is tucked into the large pocket on the bottom half of the card interior.  This is a great way to use up those precious scraps of G45 paper!

Little Darlings Mini Baby Album

“I love the Little Darlings paper collection. When it first came out several years ago, Icreated a baby album of my own baby photos at a class that I took at a retreat.  I loved my album and was so excited for myself and all of you when it was released as a Deluxe Collector’s Edition. It is the most beautiful baby paper collection ever, in my opinion, and is perfect for a baby boy or girl and even for toddlers.  I designed this mini album using a combination of the pink tones and blue tones from the collection.
